Celeste Hanchar
Multidisciplinary artist
Celeste Hanchar is a ceramic artist based in Toronto. Working primarily in hand- painted porcelain tile and wheel-thrown vessels, her practice is a meditation on the power of symbol — weaving folk narrative, psychological reflection, and archetypal imagery into a language of universal storytelling.
Hanchar co-founded 2 Forms Studio in 2021 alongside Wm. Tyler Hanchar, a creative partnership rooted in over a decade of shared life and inspired by Henry Moore's sculpture Two Forms. Her recent exhibition Losing My Religion (Northern Contemporary Gallery, Toronto, June 2025) drew on her Catholic upbringing and the intersection of Calabrian folk healing with the feminine force within ancient Christianity.
