Celeste Hanchar is a ceramic artist based in Toronto. Her work is a meditation on the power of symbol, weaving folk narrative and psychological reflection into universal storytelling. Her ideas are conveyed through hand-painting on wheel-thrown vessels or tiles to express (or exorcize) her myriad emotions and trauma, translating these deeply personal, yet familiar experiences into tangible forms.

Her recent work, to be shown for the first time in this exhibition is focused on her Catholic upbringing and the cross section between the pagan healing practices of southern Italy and the strong female force of the feminine within an ancient Christianity.

She is joined by Wm. Tyler Hanchar, her partner in all. Tyler is a ceramic sculptor, multidisciplinary artist and writer. His current work interrogates the complex relationship between the body and the mind, working to externalize internalized narratives.

Tyler is fascinated by evolutionary physiology and often incorporates anachronistic or inhuman aspects into his figures, blurring the boundary between the past and the present, myth and reality.

Together as 2 Forms Studio their work will be on view from June 19 - 24. Regardless of one’s personal spiritual journey, everyone encounters religion regularly, intentionally or unintentionally, simply existing in society or scrolling social media. Some find joy and hope. Others shame and sorrow. Mechanisms of control and myths of creation, the facets of religious expression are endless. With that in mind, we have organized a group searching for meaning in the nuances of belief systems though their chosen artistic medium. Each of our contributing artists enriches our diverse collective experience engaging with religion.

On June 19 2025 on the eve of the Solstice

2 Forms Studio opened a very special exhibition.
